FADUCO Week 2 Power Rankings

This is the woulda-shoulda version. Almost all the games were competitive this week due to some brilliant matchups that the Commish set (yeah ,he didn't but being the #1 team has its perks). And one somewhat surprising stat of the week: All but one of the Caucasian teams were under 70% efficiency this week. Not a good sign for that division.

1. Hai

Was nearly perfect with his roster. No regrets for week 1. A++ performance due to heavy investments in New England and Cincinnati.  Echoes of 2007 Pats in F-U mode after Spygate. WR play could be better, but TE Eifert is now arguably a top 5 TE.

2. Vu

3 20+ contributors, makes me regret keeping Calvin Johnson instead of DeAndre Hopkins. Also near-perfect lineup like Hai. Must be those farm-fresh eggs they're eating at the Hai Plantation. But more because bench under-performed in Vu's case. Could be an issue when bye weeks come.

3. Tuna

The third-highest scoring team of the week, but very strong overall scoring from all positions. Another 90%+ efficiency outing, only the RB2 position was off. There are a few scrubs on the bench and the DST had a really poor showing, but nothing that waiver wire pickups can't fix.

4. Donny

Yes, I'm putting another Asian team here to dominate the rankings. Donny would have won had he faced any of the Caucasian teams this week. Close to 90% efficiency this week (88%), so wouldn't have beaten Vu even with perfect lineup. Things should improve for his RBs, but QB starting decision can become a headache.

5. Kevin

The highest ranking Caucasian team, despite the loss. Kevin was uncharacteristically inefficient this week. He could have put up 116 points, which while not enough to beat Hai, would have come in 2nd. That is an efficiency under 70%. Then again, no one in their right mind would have started Palmer over Luck unless a huge Rex Ryan fan, or either Bishop Sankey or Keenan Allen over Demetrius Thomas.

6. Justin

Despite the win, this wasn't a good indicator of future performance. Justin's #2 RB will be out for a few weeks, and both QBs went under 10 points. Showing that efficiency is not the sole determinant for these rankings, Justin was an outstanding 100% efficient. However, like Vu, that was because the bench did squat. His WRs weren't impressive either and the Panthers DST aren't going to face the Jaguars every week.

7. PJ

Except for last year, PJ each year has a painfully inefficient team. Week one was no different. PJ could have beaten Justin had he started Tony Romo and RB Ameer Abdullah. Inefficiency was just under 70% like Kevin. Starting AD over Abdullah was at least defensible, but Tanenhill over Romo is strictly a homer pick.

8. Matt

Well, a paltry 54 points will get you a win in the Caucasian division this year. Also good news for Matt is that his bench does contribute, unlike Justin's. Handcuffing Bryant with Terrance Williams looks to be a smart move now. Bad news is that Matt was also inefficient. Like Kevin and PJ, he had an efficiency around 69%. 78 points wouldn't have beaten anybody else except PJ and Lily in any case.

9. Lily

A paltry 47 points and not in last place? Also under 70% efficiency, making it official that almost all the Caucasians were bad managers this past week. However, going forward, being invested in the Falcons offense can pay off. Lily would have won if she started Matt Ryan over washed-up Peyton Manning.

10. Victor

On paper, this shouldn't be the bottom-ranked team. Victor has a respectable QB, the best-performing RB of the week, and strong DSTs. Efficiency, while could be better, was a very decent 85%. Victor would have won if he started Wilson and Yeldon.

And here lies the rub: a very poor thought process that leads to a loss: "Let's start Manning because I want to hedge if ODB has a monster performance, and if Manning sucks then at least Tuna's Giants will be losing in real life. Also, because Wilson is facing my Rams, who I think will have a good game against him (they did, for what it's worth), I shouldn't start him."

Moral of the story: Always start your studs - Wilson salvaged a decent fantasy performance despite getting sacked a zillion times. As for not starting Yeldon, that's because the cable guy didn't come until 1230 pm to replace my modem, and I forgot to check if Evans was out until after 1 PM. Over-analysis + negligent GM duties = last place in FADUCO.

Thanks for the love Victor. I prefer the underdog role however and am not comfortable in the pole position.

Victor, I think you created a monster by giving Hai a "D+". For the rest of the league beware the "D+" team. I can't wait until the bye weeks start, so we can see Hai's other players. For me, the "D+" is now the most coveted draft grade.
