Week 4 Power Rankings

It's late Friday afternoon and I'm the only one left in the office. I could have gone home about an hour earlier, but my commitment to the FADUCO Blog has forced me to stay and hear the crickets. Let's get on with this week's rankings:

1. Andrew - As the lone undefeated team that just vanquished the next ranked team, Andrew deserves to be on top of the rankings. After dispatching the #1 contender last week, up steps another contender of note vs. Andrew. I don't think Andrew will remain undefeated, and all the haters are going to have a field day when he does lose.

2. Donny - Very consistently good out of the gates, with a week-low of only 76 points. Decision to keep Ryan Mathews has paid off, it looks like he's a red-zone beast as well. Speaking of beast, I saw the highlights of Calvin Johnson going into MegaTron mode last week. If Cam Newton can still get double-digit fantasy points in monsoon conditions, Donny should be the strong Asian favorite.

3. Bill - On paper, a very well-balanced and managed team, ranking no worse than 3rd in managerial efficiency, passing, and rushing. Also, has 6 players on his starting roster who are capable of exploding for 20 points or more. Why isn't the leading scoring team of the league at the #1 spot? Bill's 2 running backs face difficult matchups this week and his bench will be an area of concern heading into bye-week periods.

4. PJ - There's a pretty big gap between the top 3 teams and the rest, so the #4 playoff spot is still up for grabs. For #4, despite his loss, PJ's team has shown good numbers in the last 2 weeks. He has the best 1-2 combination of RBs and Ryan Fitzpatrick so far is the leading Free Agent Pickup of the Year. WR depth is an area of weakness but unlike past years, PJ has achieved a very good managerial efficiency score so far.

5. Tuna - You heard of the ex-Cub factor? It's a superstition that whichever baseball team has the most ex-cubs will lose to the other team in the playoffs. It's in play here because had Tuna started the Giants Defense along with Ahmad Bradshaw, he would have beaten Katy. Instead he started a castoff from the cellar dwelling team. Losing Kenny Britt hurts upside potential, but better to cut the cord now than later. Still, Aaron Rogers and Greg Jennings are franchise players who will allow Tuna to contend every week.

6. Lily - Sure, it was toilet-bowl win where Lily wouldn't have won had she faced any non-Confederacy of Dunces owner (that's Hai's and Kevin's joint fantasy baseball team. They have done as well as my FADUCO team in the last couple of years). Phil Rivers is too good to continue sucking and Arian Foster is getting healthier, so Lily should have a couple of upticks from her underachieving stars. However, the lack of a backup TE is somewhat troubling, and you can't rely on Devery Henderson anymore since Lance Moore and Colston are coming back now from their injuries.

7. Kevin - When you lay an egg in the premier game of the week, you are going to drop a bit. The good news: Kevin is still making good managerial decisions (90% efficiency). Chris Johnson can only get better, according to those red zone stats. The bad news: Depth is almost non-existent and possibly only Victor has a worse set of QBs.

8. Hai - Possibly only Victor has a worse set of RBs (notice a theme here?). While a 2-1 record is solid, keep in mind that Hai's points scored has been 2 poor and only 1 good week. Miles Austin's injury is going to set back Hai quite a bit, as he even has a worse set of WRs than Victor asides from Austin.

9. Katy - Last year, Katy had Vick, a decent defense, and luck (as usual). This year, Vick isn't a fantasy monster and Packers D isn't cutting it. While Beanie Wells is getting some decent numbers, the WRs have been blah except for Denarious Moore. This would have been the #10 team if not for the travails of Victor's team.

10. Victor - The league's remaining winless team. This team is Bizarro Andrew. It's very rare to see a team have ALL FOUR of its keepers become busts. This has overshadowed a relatively decent draft outside of the QB position for Victor. Big Ben hasn't delivered home-run power numbers in the most important position and I don't know why I still have Sam Bradford as my backup. Here's hoping Andrew Luck lands in a team with some decent offensive players next year...
