After three weeks, the initial part of the season is over. Most NFL teams have now developed an identity that help free agent selection. Now comes the bye weeks, and FADUCO owners with better depth are primed to move up in the standings. Starting decisions are simplified, yet more painful. The law of averages starts to unfold its hand, and we get a better idea of whom to choose in the Pick'Em Contest for this season. Now on to the rankings.
1. Bill - Bill has averaged 90 points per game, an amazing clip so far. If you look at the FADUCO stats, he has the best performing QB, RB, and WR. For the next 4 weeks, he gets 2 easy matchups, one average opponent, and one tough one, so he could well be undefeated heading to the halfway mark. Only minor concern is at WR, since both his bench WRs have injury issues.
2. Kevin - Performance was a bit weaker last week, but still has a complete team with no discernible weakness with the starters. Giants Def get KC, and there is no appreciable bye week impact this week for Kevin. Like Bill, Kevin's WR depth is a bit weak, but the other areas are all quite strong. Tough matchups the next 3 weeks though (Victor, Bill, PJ). Kevin faces off against Victor this week, who's 9-3 vs. Kevin historically.
3. Tuna - Two favorable trades from Donny give Tuna a huge jump in the rankings. Steve Smith and Brandon Jacobs help shore up weakness in the second RB and WR slots. Tuna has been somewhat lucky getting to a 2-1 record despite not scoring over 60 points in each game. I expect that streak to end this week, and Tuna may well roll over the other Asian teams once Green Bay's passing starts firing on all cylinders.
4. Victor - Though Victor has a 1-2 record, he's scored quite a bit of points in the past 2 games and most of his starters had that orange "update" tag next to them after week 3. Sort of like a poor man's version of Bill, Victor has the #2 QB, #1 WR (tied with Bill), and #2 Defense. With the recent pickups, Victor can field an entire 2nd team with only a kicker missing and have that 2nd team probably beat 1 or 2 FADUCO teams during the week.
5. Katy - Not the favorite in her matchup this week against Donny. Philly is on their bye week. This ranking is a bit inflated due to an issue with PJ (see below). However, Cedric Benson has been a surprise for Katy and softens the non-performance of Westbrook going forward. I don't see too many players I'd classify as keeper material in her current roster, though.
6. PJ - After 3 weeks, NY Steve Smith has more than twice as many points as Carolina Steve Smith. Joe Flacco is the #5 QB, and Brent Celek is the #2 TE. All late picks by PJ. Great sleeper drafting. Despite PJ's claims, he's not at the bottom of managerial efficiency. Playing defense roulette, however, has hurt him. Texan D? Really? Why stick with them for the third week now???? Also, I'm going to start dropping PJ one notch more than I should each week till the Stripper photos show up.
7. Hai - Up and Down Hai goes. None of his non-defensive starters scored a TD this past week. Which may mean you'll see Hai score more than 80 points this coming week. Dallas's running the ball more, but it may still be an RBBC situation. Week 6 will be ugly for Hai, however, when Dallas gets on bye and he may have to go 3 WR.
8. Andrew - Wins the Caucasian toilet Bowl II. I guess this puts him here at 8. Also, NE's passing offense is going to take off as PJ mentioned, so Andrew has that going for him. Dallas defense won the week 3 game for him, wonder if Andrew's going to switch allegiance after that Redskins' debacle against Detroit.
9. Lily - I still don't know why Lily didn't start Devin Hester instead of Derrick Ward. Not that it would have mattered, but it was curious nonetheless. Trade for Julius Jones does improve roster balance, this team doesn't have an empty void at the RB2 spot anymore.
10. Donny - The Vietnamese have a saying: Unlucky in gambling, Lucky in Love. CONGRATS DONNY ON YOUR ENGAGEMENT!!!!! Now, to the gambling side of the equation: Donny either seems to be throwing the season with the two recent trades or it's 2005 again where the trades end up good for him by the end of the season. At least he's 3-0 in his MoCo Homeboy league courtesy of my drafting.
