Some observations on mock drafts

I've been doing a lot of mock drafts this past month, here are a few observations that don't necessarily apply to FADUCO but may help you in your other leagues.

  • QBs with good upside like Cutler, Palmer, and even Romo have been available in rounds 4 and after
  • Likewise, I've noticed that I don't like my rosters on drafts where I picked a QB early
  • Quality RBs are actually more plentiful than quality WRs. There's been a noticeable run on WRs in late round 1 through round 2.
  • Lots of people overlooking Madden curse for Fitzgerald with him going even as high as #4 overall
  • Most preferred picking spot in 12-team leagues: positions 8-10
  • You can get away with waiting until 8th round for picking a decent TE
  • I've almost always been able to get sleeper WRs who are #1 starters in their teams, but that maybe because half the people drop out of the mocks by round 7.
  • Getting Addai / Donald Brown combo is pretty easy and relatively cheap if you are into investing in the Indy running attack
  • You can get away with drafting WR/WR or even WR/QB with first 2 picks and end up with decent RBs.
  • Defenses seem pretty much a crapshoot in that the default rankings for CBS or ESPN seem a bit random
  • CBS default rankings for WRs kind of hide the sleeper WRs
