FADUCO Week 3 Power Rankings

Like I said earlier, I've been pretty busy at work and whatnot, so by the time I come home I'm too tired to post. I'm basically assuming work responsibilities equivalent to 3 people now. Yeah I know, Kevin has like 20 responsibilities and he won a championship last year so that's no excuse. I've been moonlighting on a side job (no, it's not delivering pizzas) as well. All work and no play makes Vic a dull boy. Or at least a dull fantasy team. The excitement is in the Caucasian team, where 3 owners have strong teams on paper and no team is an automatic win anymore. Given current standings and future expectations, here are the rankings I've come up with during the pause in my grind (aka lunch break).

1. Bill - Pound for pound, I think Brian Westbrook is the scariest fantasy player out there if you have to face him. I'm now less numb from Monday night's shock. I actually recommended my sister to take Westbrook with the 2nd pick in her draft, instead, she took Tom Brady. If Dallas had lost to Philly, I would have officially considered myself to be Billy's bitch for the week since he almost hit the football matchup trifecta against me (NFL/College/Fantasy).

2. PJ - I'm not sure who was happier that the Cowboys beat the Eagles in a shootout - Hai or PJ. If PJ can wean himself off the Miami running game cool-aid and start Jonathan Stewart, that's like 5 studs amongst 8 starters he has. He managed to pick up Bryant Johnson, whom I pegged as a sleeper candidate in my evaluations at the start of the season.

3. Katy - McNabb is healthy, this may be 2004 all over again for him. I think management is optimistic about this year, since they've had at least 2 free agent transactions already at this point of the year. The Jones brothers are delivering, and DeSean Jackson is a keeper. Even his stupid act on Monday didn't prevent Katy from the win, so looks like fortune is smiling on Team Katy this year.

4. Hai - I expect some form of commission from Hai for my research book he used. Jay Cutler and Calvin Johnson are breakthrough players of the year at their position so far. He has the 2nd or even best rookie WR. And Marion Barber is still a stud. Like in 2005, Hai will ride a stud QB and big back to the playoffs.

5. Kevin - For the second year in a row, Kevin helped Bill out before the draft. Last year was his trade of spots, this year is sending Westbrook and Wayne over for a hobbled LT in the decline of his career. At least Eli is becoming a solid starter and a proxy for Kristy's crush on Peyton. To Kevin's credit, he did draft Chris Johnson and Ahmad Bradshaw and jumped on the Dallas fantasy bandwagon. He's at least set for his 2009 keepers.

6. Larry - Good thing I didn't write a week 2 power ranking. I would have compared Larry to Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac and said this team needed the Feds to take over. No longer the laughing stock of the league, Larry is very solid in all his starters. Run DMC is becoming the main back, and Lee Evans has transformed into a viable performer. The main concern is lack of depth at RB. Still, no more 2-12 season for Larry.

7. Donny - This could be the first season a team consistently employs a viable 3-WR offense in FADUCO. Too bad Donny has mediocre QBs to lead the passing attack. A trio of Brandon Marshall, Larry Fitzgerald, and Steve Smith with a rejuvenated Santana Moss as backup is so moo-ney. RBs are a bit huuuuurting, Reggie Bush is a donkey at the position. Donny may be felted at the RB spot if Ryan Grant continues to ring up as many numbers as a bore. I think only Donny understands what I just wrote.

8. Tuna - There isn't much really that separates the #6-#8 rankings. Tuna of course is weak at QB, but his depth in the other positions and the continued excellence of the leading Asian NFL player is giving him a fighting chance. TE and WR depth is questionable, but I do see a trade sometime in the near future to improve his roster. His stable of RBs will become pretty good chips to play with once other running backs in the league get injured.

9. Andrew - If not for a couple of bad benching moves, Andrew's team could have been averaging in the 80s. Let's see...in my draft review I put the over/under at week 3 where one of Andrew's bench QB scores 20+ points and his starter goes negative. Ding ding ding! Warner with 25 points while Derek Anderson has -3 in week 2. Winner winner chicken dinner!

10. Victor - So blah and dull a lineup. No real players capable of putting up 20+ points. Probably will go 0-3 because he's facing Hai, who's invested in 2 of the top 3 offenses so far this year. If you exclude Peyton, he has a lot of "pretty good" #2 starters, but no #1 stud. So it's pretty much a consistent 50-70 point range for this team. Though boring may be fashionable on Wall Street, it doesn't help in fantasy football.

Victor is trying to jinx me. Victor is favored by 6 points over me this week according to the Sporsline projections.

The sportsline projection means squat since you're still starting Dallas Clark, who by gametime will be another TE. If I really wanted to jinx you, I would have rated you higher than Katy.

Victor how consistent were your power rankings last year, from the beginning of the season till the end.

I'm not sure what you meant by consistency. If you mean at start and end, then my Week 1 rankings had Tuna as #1, Kevin as #2, myself as #3, and Andrew as #5. My last power ranking successfully predicted the playoff seeds. But of course, over the course of the season the rankings would naturally move up or down.
