Sunday Dinner March 9, 2008

I was originally going to go Italian, but Hai called me and told me he was going to prepare a Vietnamese dish. I therefore had to slant the dinner somewhat towards an Asian Flavor. Hai's beef dish, taken from a recipe of his mom, was not bad, he gained some good lessons on how to do it for the next time.

Tonight's Menu:

Bo Luc Lac (Shaky Beef) - Beef prepared by Hai, plated by me
Broiled Yellowtail Tuna with Herbs
Sauteed Bean Sprouts and Baby Corn
Mixed Berry Gelato with Mango Sauce

There are a few reasons why we haven't expanded the guest list yet:
1. Almost all these dishes are first attempts. They are beta versions so to speak and Chu Hai doesn't mind being a test subject. His expecations are different than yours or more significantly, the parents'.
2. It's harder cooking for 6+ people, especially due to constraints on plateware, seating space, etc.
3. We don't want you to drive all the way here to eat what could be a disaster of a meal, which may force me to order pizza.

That said, I'll invite you and the parents for this coming Sunday. You haven't all seen my blu-ray movies yet I think. Also, I got Super Smash brothers this weekend for the Wii!
