FADUCO Week 9 Power Rankings

The tide has turned. Running backs are now re-asserting themselves as stud fantasy contributors compared to the first half of the season. This bodes well for teams with a strong running game, such as....hmmm. No Asian teams have a really good running game. The top 4 Running backs all belong to the Caucasian division. I believe Purple Jesus' coronation this past week also signals the new era of dominance by the Caucasians in FADUCO. I expect the next few weeks will see Asians losing the majority of their games vs. the Caucasians, and the playoff race being decided in 3 weeks for the top 3 spots.

1. Tuna - Won't have his QB and top 2 WRs for week 10 however. But his running backs face crummy defenses, so he may pull out a win vs. Katy. Still, it's no slam dunk he will get the #1 spot because he still has to play Kevin's team twice in the regular season. And he's down to 2 effective running back starters, so depth is now a problem for his WRs and RBs as well.

2. Kevin - Imagine if the Pats had to play the Colts twice in the regular season. Such is the case here as we may see two previews for the FADUCO championship. Kevin will need to sweep Tuna to get the #1 seed. It may not matter if Kevin loses one or two to Tuna. In either case, he'd likely get the #2 or #3 seed and will have to face a surging #3 team:

3. PJ - All praise Purple Jesus. The best draft pick since the keeper era, and the next LT (hopefully not jinxing injuries). Given that Seattle's running game is falling apart, we may see Hasselbeck air it out all day long. Not as well rounded as Kevin's team, but potentially more explosive.

4. Katy - Don't let this past week's result fool you. Though this team has stuck with McNabb longer than it should have, Roethlisberger has now made the leap into being a bona-fide gunslinger. Running backs are mediocre, but still has the best trio of WRs when at full strength.

5. Victor - The weakest #3 occupant of the Sportsline's Power Rankings in ages this late into the season. Lucked out with a win this past week because opponent put in homer QB instead of the better QB. Too many injuries associated with his RBs and WRs. This team is like a leaking ship since the start of the season. As soon as Victor tried to plug his RB corps, the WRs spring a leak. And vice-versa. Expect the S.S. Vic Guru to sink before reaching the safe harbor.

6. Bill - With a 2-7 record, there is no way Bill can make the playoffs after two straight tough losses where he faced the week's high scorer both times. But this is one helluva spoiler team given Drew Brees' return as a fantasy stud and of course, the LT factor. Oops, just checked out his WRs corps. Scratch the thought about this being a spoiler team.

7. Andrew - Free-falling more than Sub-prime mortgages, Andrew gets a small break in facing a depleted Victor squad in week 10. However, Andrew himself probably won't have his top 3 WRs healthy. And Tony Romo faces a rejuvenated Giants D looking for payback for their week 1 embarrassment.

8. Hai - Yes, he did lose to a previously 0-8 team. But he did score a decent number of points, so it wasn't that shameful. Still has no running game except for Marion Barber, and Bungles face a pissed-off Raven team in Baltimore next week. At least he's not in danger of going from first to worst like he is in his other big money league. Whatever fate may befall his fantasy team, I was very impressed that Hai's new friend has picked up enough football knowledge from him. She was actually saying how teams should not punt near the middle of the field and how QBs should try to throw the ball away instead of getting sacked near field goal range. This from a person for whom the word "football" meant "soccer" a few months ago.

9. Donny - It's been straight two weeks where Donny's team has showed signs of life. I don't think he cares anymore though. I'll refrain from speculating, but I think this is one angry hombre. He wanted to play tackle football and bust some bones instead of a friendly match of golf with our upcoming Duong family sports event.

10. Larry - At least he started his players this week. Can't say this is an atrocious team to merit the bottom place, but there just aren't many home run hitters in Larry's roster. Or if they do rack up the TDs, they happen to be on the bench.

Due to changes in government regulated ethnicity reporting requirements, 'Asian / Pacific Islander' is not a valid selection after December 31, 2006. Also, 'Asian', 'Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander' and 'Two or More Races' may be selected as of January 1, 2007.

I hate everyone and everything associated with football. The Naval acadamey was given a day off for the first time since pearl harbour, eaglets suck and have to start over, my faduco team isn't that good and is unlucky and there are a team of bookies trying to collect money from me.
