The much-anticipated showdown between Tuna and Kevin was a Super-bowl-sized blowout. Who needs running backs or defenses when just your QB and WR outscore 6 of the other 9 teams in the league? The last 3 weeks are all inter-division games, which will hurt the Asian playoff contenders since the Caucasian division is the stronger one this year.
1. Tuna - Yeesh, another dominant performance by the Patriots clinches Tuna the Asian division title. Unlike past years, we may well see only 1 Asian team in the playoffs. However, it's looking like this team is the most overwhelming favorite for the FADUCO bowl ever; as long as the Patriots continue their jihad on the rest of the NFL. Tuna must guard against overconfidence, as his running back roster is going down one by one the last few weeks. Just this past week, we had the Duong Golf invitational and Tuna's team was the betting favorite. Unfortunately, they came in last. This guy's team came in first.
2. Kevin - Will this be a repeat of last year's collapse? Kevin's loss coupled with PJ and Andrew's wins means it's not a slam dunk Kevin will make the playoffs. However, Kevin arguably has the deepest WR bench with the return of Andre Johnson and has the healthiest set of starting running backs. Only weakness is the defense. Since he's playing defense flavor of the week, I'll go out on a limb and says he replaces his beloved Philly defense, who's facing the Pats next week. So I doubt we'll see a repeat of 2006 for Kevin.
3. PJ - PJ actually has a better breakdown record than Kevin, and trails Kevin only by 3 points. However, the recent momentum aside, this team is somewhat weak at RB and relies too much on TO and Hasselbeck. Chad Johnson is no longer a stud WR and PJ's RBs are pretty much interchangeable, which hurts your efficiency rating. Not only that, but PJ ignored his past advice and willfully picked up Ricky Williams. We'll see how much of a fantasy cancer Ricky is this year.
4. Andrew - Team on the upswing, but injuries to Brandon Jacobs and the continued absence of Marvin Harrison leaves it too reliant on Tony Romo. I'd like to see the Ritter household last Sunday when Tony and TO ravaged Andrew's Redskins in a close game. Then again, Andrew sold his soul to the dark side for fantasy glory this year, so maybe he was fine with it.
5. Hai - Phil Dawson's kick of the crossbar not only gave the Browns an unlikely victory, it gave Hai the win for his team (Dawson's OT FG wouldn't have happened otherwise). Hai's lucky roll continues, as he faces 2-9 Larry TWICE. Though there is a difficult matchup against PJ between those 2 games, Hai certainly has the easiest road amongst the playoff contenders.
6. Victor - This team's reliance on its defense has set it back the last 2 weeks with the Steelers' underperformance. However, things are looking brighter as the Steelers face the Dolphins this coming week. Not so bright: Victor's running back corps and the disappearance of Peyton Manning and Steve Smith.
7. Donny - The league's most fearsome spoiler. Also the league's biggest Packers fan. He could ride the Brett Favre and Company train to ruin PJ's and Kevin's seasons in the last 2 weeks of the season. Kevin may have to root AGAINST Brett Favre....
8. Katy - Tough remaining schedule against Kevin, Andrew, and Bill. At least the QB situation is now settled, and having the Pats D is an automatic 10 points. Though this team has lost 3 straight games, its starters are relatively healthy. There is not much that separates the #3 and #8 team, so very much alive for the playoff hunt so far.
9. Bill - This team is no pushover, but having 3 viable running backs hurts Bill in that only 2 can play, and we could see the bench guy getting 30 points like this past week. There isn't much for Bill to play for, however. With the trading season over, Bill will be facing Donny to determine who gets to pick second next year. Then comes a meaningless game vs. Tuna, and finally Bill gets to maybe become a spoiler for Katy if she's not 0-2 in the next 2 weeks.
10. Larry - Well, this team will be an interesting turnaround project for the 2008 season. There is young talent here (Young, White, Boldin), so whoever takes over for the team will not be left with crumbs.
