Vic Guru answers your questions Week 4

Remember, I'm not liable for any losses incurred from gambling-related advice. Here are some questions to get you started:

Q: What do you think of my picks this week; Colts, Patriots, Texans, Cowboys and Steelers? All against the spread.
A: Colts, always Patriots, Cowboys, Seattle (instead of Steelers). I wouldn't bet on the Texans game and instead go with KC as the home underdog vs. Jacksonville.

Q: Will Donny really sit at home for 2 months if he gets laid off from AOL?
A: No, as an accounting manager with a CPA and experience in a large company, he should not have difficulty finding a job to fund his hobbies such as buying unreliable performance vehicles, drinking and cursing, and financing Las Vegas casinos.

Q: How many wins will MD Football have this year?
A: MD Football will be bowl-eligible. My prediction will be 8-4, with further losses to either GA Tech, BC, or FSU.

Q: Which school had the worst graduation rate for its men's basketball program?
A: I hope Hai, Tuna, and Donny don't shoot the messenger.
Edit: I've changed the link to a more comprehensive article that has more analysis.

Vic Bastard, you are a traitor! The statistic was based on the guys that enrolled in the school from 1997-2001, which made up the final four and national championship runs. These guys were good enough to play pro ball and had little incentive to get a degree. In fact, 10 players from that era went on to play professional basketball and make a lot more money than the average college graduate. In contrast, our current players have little pro basketball potenitial, so 4 out of 6 seniors in last year's class graduated.

Donny,

Send me your resume. I could have a good opportunity for you. I t might be a bit of a reach since it is a qassi CFO position but they are looking for someone with a stong CPA background

I realize I'm setting myself up for the easy comeback regarding our football record, but in contract to MD:
Irish Athletes Again Set Pace in 2007 NCAA Graduation Success Rate Survey

Eighteen of 22 Irish athletic programs analyzed post graduation rates of 100 percent, none post a percentage lower than 90

October 4, 2007

Eighteen of 22 athletics programs at the University of Notre Dame compiled graduation rates of 100 percent, and none were below 90 percent, according to the third year of Graduation Success Rate measurements developed by the NCAA and released yesterday.

None of the 120 Division I-A football-playing programs in the country had a higher percentage of 100 GSR scores than did Notre Dame with its .818 figure.

NCAA figures released yesterday showed that, among Notre Dame's men's sports, baseball, cross country/track, fencing, ice hockey, soccer, swimming and tennis achieved 100 percent GSR scores. Lacrosse scored 97 percent, football scored 93 percent, golf was 91 percent and basketball was 91 percent. The same seven Irish men's programs also scored 100 percent in both the 2005 and 2006 data.

It's a sad day when the only thing about your athletic program that you can brag about is graduation rates. Congratulations, I hope Notre Dame can maintain their level of success for a long time to come.
