Since tonight's Giants - Falcons game is irrelevant to this week's results, here is the early edition of the power rankings, with blasts from the blog archives:
1. Tuna - Hai's least favorite team is now the Patriots, which is perfect for Tuna. As long as the Pats don't take any prisoners, Tuna will sit pretty at #1. They are curse-free and Tom Brady is on pace to break the season TD record. Don't believe for a second when Brady says "I don't care about individual records, it's all about the team blah blah blah." Not when the record is owned by Peyton Manning (Hai's 2nd favorite QB now since his girl likes Peyton, remind you of anyone?).
2. Kevin - My baby shower gift to Kevin. Plus he gets to play his division for his next 3 games. Kevin has 2 elite RBs and WRs, he just needs his QB to score positive points. This would have been a scary team had Kevin followed my QB Rankings during the draft. At least he wisely ignored my WR rankings. Speaking of WR rankings, the computer auto-drafted Randy Moss for me in my other league, and I'll be 6-0 there. Then again, it also auto-drafted Drew Brees for me.
3. PJ - If you were asked to come up with 2 names on who would be successors to LT, PJ's Adrian Peterson and Ronnie Brown would be the most popular names. I was right in saying All-Day should be drafted first, but was wrong in ranking him #3. Oh well. PJ has a solid core if he can ever find a decent QB. Too bad Cleo Lemon will probably be picked up by Larry or Donny before it gets to PJ's waiver turn.
4. Katy - Kinda the Asian equivalent of Kevin in that Team Katy dominates its division rivals but struggles against the other division. Still, this team has an explosive trio of WRs. Living proof you can do well this year with mediocre running backs. Oh, and yesterday while watching the Pats-Cowboys game, Phil Simms said something about the trend in great offenses not needing strong RB play any more. That's coming from the greatest Giants QB of the modern era, so he may be a bit biased..
5. Bill - The Ladanlian One-man show is back, and Brees is now a decent weekly play. Looks like the Consultant's prophecy is coming true. This team has risen from the dead. Going forward, other teams will fear Bill more than Victor's or Andrew's teams. It may be 2006 again. Will this be enough to propel Bill to the playoffs?
EDIT: Didn't realize Bill has a boatload of players on bye in week 7, meaning LT will give him zero points against Victor. Feel free to switch rankings with Victor if you want.
6. Victor - Guess who else is back? It seems Victor has weathered the drought known as Larry Johnson. Even though it was the Bengals, LJ is getting back into the groove with an easier schedule and a decent KC passing game to prevent 8 - men boxes. And Steve Smith has a real, albeit ancient, QB throwing to him now.
7. Andrew - The glow of being the last undefeated team has now faded. Maybe it's time for a new logo, Darth has been more like Garth lately. Or maybe it's time to hope Marvin Harrison comes back to save a dire situation for his ugly bench of WRs.
8. Hai - Losing 3 straight with RBs still injured and relying on a Bengal team whose wheels are starting to shake and rattle. I think this is the team I've jinxed the most so far, which has occurred at least three times here, here, and here. The Vietnamese have a saying "Lucky in love, unlucky in gambling". Or something like that, Aunt Yen will probably grill me for being wrong.
9. Donny - Hey, what happened to the POD preview? Donny may have more time to write them now. As Donny predicted, looks like the AOL layoffs are official. Donny may now have time to keep on managing horrible QB performances. His combined QB starts for the season have given Donny 22 points, a good week for Peyton or Tom.
10. Larry - Even if Vince Young's injury is not serious, it's enough to seriously think about the Madden Curse for future drafts. Also, lesson to those who trade away the #1 overall pick: This team could have had Adrian Peterson AND Tony Romo if it kept its picks. Instead, there are too many players who play on crappy offenses, healthy or not.
