Victor's evaluation of keepers

Since my secret research website is not up yet, I tried to outsource my evaluation of the keepers. However, participation in the poll has spurred me to action. I see the poll already has a few votes for the weakest keeper set. Pending that article's arrival, I'll do a quick and dirty scan of the keepers, in order of weakest to strongest. This year, there were few surprises, it seemed pretty much most teams had 3 strong keepers and a toss-up at the 4th position.

1. Larry
Very weak 4th spot, didn't trade to get a better player. Will need a good draft to rebuild his running back corps. So far the poll leader for weakest set of keepers. At least he was wise enough not to keep Mike Vick.

2. Andrew
Keeping a defense is very iffy, Portis may have to share carries. Roster places heavy pressure on having a good draft, so he can't afford to give away draft picks like in the past. For instance, he will need to nail his QB pick or another losing season could be in the cards.

3. Bill
You can go from runner-up to the bottom, like Larry. No real depth, since Chester Taylor will be part of a committee. Will have to start near the bottom of the draft to restock. However, Bill usually drafts and trades well, so he may catch up easily.

4. Tuna
Good QB and TE. However, his RBs are second-tier ones in terms of last year's performance. Has to hope Cadillac turns it around and McGahee scores a lot of TDs in the change of scenery to Baltimore. Tuna's forte in the past has been his selection of WRs, so not having one here won't hurt him as much.

5. PJ
Two stud Top 5 WRs, two fair-to-good RBs. Priority is to get a regular starting QB who won't cause inefficiency or negative points, and to get a 3rd RB starter.

6. Katy
Denver won't go RBBC anymore with Henry there. So you'll see Clinton Portis circa 2003 numbers possibly. Maroney is also the man in NE. Will need to draft a backup somewhat early for Mcnabb however.

7. Kevin
Addai has tremendous upside. Great depth at RB. Wayne is top 10 material. If you have to jump on another team's bandwagon, may as well go with the Colts.

8. Donny
Good mix of young talent on teams with strong offensive reputation. Roster mix will allow him to get best available player on his turn in the first round.

9. Hai
Will Barber be this year's Frank Gore? Two top 5 players in Palmer and Jackson. Roy Williams should benefit greatly from having Calvin Johnson on the other side. By the way, this vote has nothing to do with Hai's help in the past month with my non-fantasy football affairs.

10. Victor
It's bias-proofed: 1 Top 3 QB, 2 Top 5 RBs, 1 Top 5 WR. There is however a concern that LJ will have a downturn this season due to the gazillion carries he had last year.

Larry's quartet aint so bad. SA and Holt are top 5 guys and Boldin as a #2WR isn't too shabby. Give Larry some love!

To me Tuna has the worst keepers, with Andrew a close second. Twan's RBs play for crappy offenses. So what if he has the best TE. If this were a yearly league, he has no one worthy of a top 20 pick except maybe McGahee, who plays behind a crud run blocking line. Tuna, you had better make something happen with that extra 2nd round pick.

I'm glad my keepers aren't getting any love. Everyone was high on my keepers last year and they all under performed.

It will require some work this year to remain in contention, but I will get it done. One thing for sure: I will finish ahead of Donny.

I sense a side bet coming between Donny and Tuna.
