This week's leftover Free Agent

Now that all teams have had their bye, bye week replacements won't matter anymore. So you're going to start what you think will be your optimum lineup every week. This means a lot of your reserves won't see much action unless there is an injury or a really bad matchup for your starter. So, picking up a free agent who would be worth the $3 should meet these criteria:

  • Enough upside to have the potential to be a fantasy starter
  • Faces some good matchups going forward
  • In a fantasy-friendly offense (hence, no raiders, bills, or browns)
  • Addresses a position weakness in your roster, so you won't just accumulate another equivalent player who will lead you to inefficient starters since it'll be random on who will perform for you that week (are you listening PJ?)

That said, there are obviously no free agent RBs in our league who would meet the above criteria. However, I can see one WR who could be worth a pickup for these reasons:

  • He's the #2 WR in an offense that is finally getting into its groove
  • He's one of those Caucasians who slips under the radar at the start of the season
  • Plays the 49ers this week and then the Cardinals next week.

I'm talking about Mike Furrey of the Detroit Lions. Maybe worth picking up if you aren't sold on your #2 WR.
