After 6 weeks, we have a good idea on how the 1st round picks panned out. Surprisingly, results do not entirely correspond to current standings.
1. Donny: Reggie Bush
Grade: B-
Hasn't scored a TD that counts in our league yet, but he is good for about 4-5 points a game. Unfortunately for Donny, he's had to start Bush due to the ineffectiveness of Jamal Lewis and Cedric Benson. But with the 2nd best points producer in the league (Da Bears), Donny is probably not losing any sleep with this pick.
2. Katy: Laurence Maroney
Grade: A
Has become a big part of the Pats' running game much sooner than expected. He's the leading candidate for best rookie running back so far. As the 15th highest producer with only 1 bad week, he's a viable #2 RB. Running backs from the Big Ten usually don't do well in their first year but Maroney is so far a shining exception.
3. Bill: Chester Taylor
Grade: B
Has played to expectations. Gets a workhorse load, which is becoming rarer nowadays. Unfortunately, also as expected, is the lack of TD opportunities in the conservative Minnesota offense. Only 1 bad game performance, so he's been pretty steady.
4 & 5. Kevin: Joseph Addai + Chris Chambers
Grade: C+
Addai hasn't really shined except for one game, and it's been RRBC in Indy. Chris Chambers, well he's a Dolphin who has had to endure Culpepper and Joey throwing to him. Enough said.
6. Victor: Mike Bell
Grade: F
Prime bona-fide bust. He gets like 1-3 carries now. Victor the Bronco fan was hoodwinked by Mike Shanahan. Victor can't even hope for Tatum Bell to get injured since he's one of only 2 bright spots on Victor's favorite team's offense.
7. Tuna: Tom Brady
Grade: B+
Has been very steady. With the exception of one week, he's put up at least 10 points. Hasn't had a real explosive performance, but is very reliable. Though 4 QBs picked after him have scored more points, they each don't have their byes yet and only Bulger and maybe Brees can be considered better.
8. Andrew: Corey Dillon
Grade: C+
Andrew could have picked from six RBs who've outperformed Dillon and who also have had a bye week. But one can't say Dillon is a bust since he's still healthy and still an integral part of the Pats' offense, albeit in a RBBC role. Just not reliable in production with 2 10+ weeks and 2 poor weeks. Pick hasn't really helped Andrew, but hasn't hurt him either.
9. Larry: Deshaun Foster
Grade: B-
Foster has exceed some expectations of him getting injured already. Unfortunately, Carolina's running game has been pretty mediocre. In Foster's one good week so far, he was benched by Larry so this grade is only mitigated by the fact that Foster will see the bulk of the carries with DeAngelo's injury.
10. Hai Jeremy Shockey
Grade: C
Grade has been deducted since Hai benched Shockey in his one good week. Shockey also put up just 1 point and zero points in two other games. Also, by playing a person from a rival NFC East team, Hai put himself in an undesirable position to root for a Cowboys rival. Unreliable, unprofessional, and not a Cowboy. Hai, you want to trade Shockey for Witten?
11. Dishonorable Mention: PJ
Grade: C-
Since PJ traded his 1st round pick, we'll treat Chad Johnson as his pick. Currently, there are 8 free agent WRs in FADUCO with more points than CJ. So Chad has been somewhat an underachiever but PJ has other more pressing problems with his roster. Kinda like a plain-jane amongst a leper colony situation.
