Mr. & Mrs. Omnivore Visit the Pro Football Hall of Fame

By Kevin Farrell

The football hall of fame was one of the first sights we saw on our trip. Kristy begrudgingly added the hall of fame to our itinerary as a favor to me (and she reminded me of this numerous times.) I think Kristy would now agree that it was a good thing that we visited the football hall of fame. That and the rock N roll hall of fame in Cleveland gave our trip a sense of legitimacy and normalcy that people seemed to gravitate towards. We met a bunch of people in Ohio who asked where we were from and what we were doing in Ohio. We told them we were touring the entire state and seeing the largest cockroach, the KOGT castle, the bicycle museum, presidents homes, a kitchen aid factory tour, other oddities and the football and rock and roll hall of fame. The hall of fames gave these folks an out for an awkward situation, they could relate to these attractions.

The Football Hall of Fame was my favorite stop on the trip. We got there a few weeks before the hall of fame game, which was probably a good thing. We arrived when it opened but when we left the parking lot was filling up. I can't imagine how they accommodate everyone for the hall of fame game. The hall of fame itself is very extensive, you could probably spend a good three to four hours there. We spent about two and half hours there and didn't see everything. They have displays on the origins of football and on present day football. They also have exhibits for players that have set NFL records. They show NFL films on classic games. There are games to play, such as throwing a football to cut-out receivers or guessing the next play in classic NFL games. My favorite exhibit was the Hall of Fame itself. In a large room they have a bust for every hall of fame inductee. Kristy was disappointed that Dat Nguyen was not there. Yes, Hai (ignoring my instruction) she did look for him. There are also terminals in this room where you can query by inductee or by team. This how I found out that the Eagles have more hall of famers than the Cowboys. Through these terminal you can see video biography on the hall of famer of your choice. I used this to go back to the Eagles glory days before there was a super bowl.

Anyway I enjoyed the Hall of Fame and would recommend it to all football fans.

I want to hear more about the giant roach.

I can't properly write about the roach. Yes I saw it but it was a passing thing as I took Kristy's picture with it. Ask Kristy to write about it if you want more info. She spent quality alone time with it.
