Found this on the web, dated July 2, so it's pretty fresh. I do not claim to agree with all of the comments:
From some random website:
Analyzing RB Age: A great article by Tristan Cockcroft breaks down how age affects RBs around their 30th birthday...He gives great information that allows the reader to draw their own conclusions...
Based on Cockcroft's information, here are our conclusions:
RBs entering their prime age this year - according to Cockcroft:
Kevan Barlow (27): Stay away from Barlow forever.
Tatum Bell (25): Owners should potentially take a calculated risk on Bell, depending on how far he falls in drafts.
Chris Brown (25): A decent player, but not a consistent fantasy option due to crowded backfield.
Najeh Davenport (27): Has a chance to win starting job in GB if he stays healthy.
Domanick Davis (25): Dodged a bullet when Texans chose Mario Williams, but don't reach too high for Davis because of durability concerns.
T.J. Duckett (25): To incosistent to draft.
Deshaun Foster (26): Major injury risk and DeAngelo Williams was drafted for a reason.
Larry Johnson (26): Top three fantasy player...Should go for 1,700 yards and 20 TDs.
Rudi Johnson (26): Major risk in our eyes due to off-season knee surgery and Chris Perry lurking.
Greg Jones (25): In too crowded of a situation in Jacksonville to have any kind of value.
Julius Jones (25): Expect another disappointing season from Jones this year.
LaMont Jordan (27): One of the most underrated players in fantasy football.
Jamal Lewis (27): Should rebound nicely in 2006 - definite sleeper potential.
Willie Parker (25): FWP should put up solid totals again in 2006.
Clinton Portis (25): Fastly becoming one of the most sought-after guys in fantasy, and with good reason...Look for Portis to lead the NFL in rushing this year with 1,800 yards and tack on 15 TDs.
Dominic Rhodes (27): Rhodes should get off to a good start this year, but will lose touches to Addai later...He could go for 1,000 yards and a few scores.
Chester Taylor (26): Chester Taylor is looking like he's in a great situation in Minnesota...He'll get the ball a lot, and could be this year's LaMont Jordan.
LaDainian Tomlinson (27): Best player in fantasy football, and will be for three more years.
Brian Westbrook (26): Should rebound nicely from last season after a minor leg injury.
RBs entering their breakout age - according to Cockcroft:
Joseph Addai (23): Won't break out until 2007 or 2008.
Marion Barber (23): We love Barber, but his chances of breaking out are slim with Parcells rotating him with Julius Jones.
Cedric Benson (23): Will beat out Thomas Jones and have a big year in 2006.
Ronnie Brown (24): Will rush for 1,300 with Ricky in Canada.
Samkon Gado (23): Not a chance.
Frank Gore (23): A definite sleeper now that he's healthy.
Cedric Houston (24): Not a chance either.
Steven Jackson (23): Steven Jackson will break out this season and come close to leading the league in TDs.
Brandon Jacobs (24): Speaking of leading the league in TDs, Jacobs is the league's next premier goalline back.
Kevin Jones (24): We like Jones in Mike Martz' offense.
Willis McGahee (24): Don't count out McGahee as a potential top five back.
Ryan Moats (23): A definite sleeper, and very valuable if Westbrook goes down.
Mewelde Moore (24): Ignore him.
Chris Perry (24): The next Larry Johnson if Rudi goes down.
Cadillac Williams (24): Should be consistently good for years to come.
DeAngelo Williams (23): Won't break out until 2007.
RBs that could be on the decline due to age - according to Cockcroft:
Shaun Alexander (29): Madden cover jinx? Close to 30 cause for concern? Has he hit is statistical peak?
Michael Bennett (28): No value.
Ron Dayne (28): Intruiging sleeper strictly for 2006 season.
Reuben Droughns (28): Not high on him.
Nick Goings (28): May not even make the Panthers roster if Foster, DWilliams and EShelton are healthy.
Ahman Green (29): Nearly about to fall over...Steer clear.
Edgerrin James (28): Still has plenty of dominating years left.
Thomas Jones (28): Still has fresh legs, just needs a place to play, because it won't be Chicago.
Ricky Williams (29): His year and a half off combined with his yoga and weight loss may have actually given Williams hope to play a couple solid years in the NFL after his CFL experiment and suspension in 2006.
