About the CDM lawsuit

I'm not a lawyer, I just work a lot with them. There has been a few questions in the league about Larry's reference to a CDM lawsuit.

The San Diego Tribune has a short article about it here.

Basically, Major League Baseball started requiring that fantasy sites running stats of players need to pay MLB a licensing fee. CDM is suiing and claiming otherwise, that stats are public domain info. If MLB wins the suit, then all the sports leagues can begin to charge websites a licensing fee for stats.

HOWEVER, this will not affect FADUCO since the major websites that run fantasy sports such as CBS Sportsline, ESPN, and Yahoo already pay a licensing fee. It will affect the smaller ones who can't afford to pay.

Which means if I post a stat on a player in the blog, I'll have to use another name than the actual player, otherwise I can get sued. Example:

Not Legit:
I think Larry Johnson's 2 TDs on Sunday is a sign of things to come
Reggie Bush's 80 yard run yesterday was sick, Donny is on track for the playoffs

Legit:
I think Grandmama Part Deux's 2 TDs on Sunday is a sign of things to come
The Second Coming of Jesus's 80 yard run yesterday was sick, Donny is on track for the playoffs
