Ranting Week 5

After seeing how some teams managed their roster in Week 5, wanted to get some rants off my chest. I will channel my inner Asian Tiger Dad this week. In order of my power ranking from worst to best.

Vu - Dalvin Cook was listed as inactive like 4 days before Sunday.  I don't think you revised your starters in the last couple of weeks. And Gerald Everett had COVID testing issues. He was your last transaction way back on Sept 23 by the way. You could have picked up Dawson Knox, I thank you deeply that you didn't. Being an Asian absentee owner is almost unheard of, very shameful and yet here we are.

Byron - WTF man? You benched BOTH Josh Allen and Zeke Elliott this week???? Either you and Justin have a side bet going or you have some sort of odd vendetta against Josh Allen. You drafted Aaron Rodgers with your 1st Round (!!!!) pick despite having Allen as a keeper. Then you opted not only to drop Jameis Winston for Daniel Jones but then started Jones who was facing the Cowboys. You also benched Zeke, who was facing the Giants. The only explanation I can come up with - this was a hedge against some other huge bet you made that had the Cowboys stomping all over the Giants. In which case, congratulations. If not, your shareholders ought to file a malfeasance lawsuit for gross negligence.

Hai - You bring great shame to the Asians. We will be 4-1 versus the Caucasians after week 5. Guess who is the lone loser. But at least that loss wasn't a result of any poor management decision. I'm concerned by recent trends however. Atlanta was missing its main WRs and yet you benched Kyle Pitts. Also the KC defense is trash this season but you kept them instead of picking up a good Cowboys defense, who as you should be aware of, is actually very good this year. At least you're on the ball with tracking your injured RBs.

Matt -  How's that early Kicker pick coming along? Let's see, Harrison Butt is...in 1,2,3,...oh 11th place in fantasy kicker scoring. For that 5th round pick, you could have picked up Darrell Henderson, Jamarr Chase, or Jalen Hurts. You've had a couple of heartbreaking close losses and likely one more in week 5, so your team may actually be better than its record. But by picking a kicker so early, I think the fantasy gods were offended.

PJ - The Good: Drafting the #1 QB this season so far. Picking up ultra-steals in WRs Jamarr Chase and Antonio Brown. Being the lone Caucasian inter-divisional winner. The Bad: Being the unlucky opponent against Kevin's 130 point fireworks in week 1. Having a lifetime .238 pct win-loss against his uncle. The Ugly: Miami fandom directly leading to 4 pts combined from Myles Gaskin and Dolphins D in week 4. If PJ started Fournette and a decent DST, he would have beaten Justin that week and be likely on a hot 4-game winning streak after week 5. The only reason he could lose week 5 is...drumroll...the 2 points from the Miami DST this week.

Justin - Relying on weak Caucasian opponents is not a viable long-term strategy Justin. You may be on a 3-game winning streak after this week, but it's all a mirage. None of your opponents since Week 3 have scored over 70 points. Your roster is actually pretty strong, but your recent managing decisions have been, shall we say, sub-optimal. Starting Barkley over Harris this week is excusable, as the 0 points from Barkley is due to injury. Keeping a hot Mike Williams on the bench instead of Chris Godwin was not. You catch another easy break in week 6, but weeks 7-9 will determine if you are a primetime team.

Donny - Ignoring the TE position on draft day is usually not fatal. But that's not the case for Donny. He lost his week 2 not because of bad QB or RB play, but because his scrub TE starter had a donut. Also, your decision to keep Clyde Edwards Helaire over Kyle Murray has been the worst keeper decision so far this year.  At least Russ Wilson's injury is a bit mitigated by having a good backup QB in Jalen Hurts. The rest of your bench is poo-poo, just in time for bye weeks to start.

Kevin - The Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde of the league. Either scores over 110 points or under 80 points. Kevin, looks like your team goes as Tyreek Hill goes. Your RBs have limited upside and your WR backups are all banged up. Having a two-man stud roster will get you more weekly leader $20 bills but I'm not sure that's the championship path. I can't believe this, but I think PJ and Justin may have better overall rosters than you and your days of being the assumed division favorite are in the sunset.

Victor - Victor's FADUCO kryptonite is Tuna. He has a 14-27-1 lifetime record vs Tuna (34.5%). The next worse is Hai at 19-24 (44.2%). His lone loss so far this season is when he scored about 20 points under his average and lost to Tuna in week 3. Guess who Victor gets in week 6. With Kamara and Patterson on their byes. With Tuna having no byes that week.  While admittedly the deepest team in the league, injuries may become an issue as bye weeks start rolling in. And teams now know how to contain Mahomes with the Cover 2 defense.

Tuna - Tuna is back to being the favorite in each of his matches going forward. Even scarier is that Justin Herbert was on the bench this week for Tuna. Seems like you felt sorry for Kevin and didn't want to embarrass Kevin with a margin of victory of almost 90 points.  That's not very ruthless! Maybe the DST can be better, that may be the only bad thing about your team. You make Asian father proud.
