FADUCO CHAMPION 2006

The season has closed, and I've joined Katy and Hai as two-time champions of FADUCO. This was my deepest and most complete team, and I'll share some of my reasons on why I acquired my main players.

QB:

Manning - No-duh keeper

Rivers - Faced the 49ers on Manning's bye week; has LT so defenses can't tee off on him;

RB:

LJ - No-duh keeper

Gore - Coaching addition of Norv Turner + 1st of depth chart at "The U." before injury + upgraded offensive line = lots of upside. Caught some flak for keeping him before the season, glad that my instincts were right on this one.

Mike Bell - Thought he'd be the #1 RB of Denver, hasn't been quite that way but did come on strong in the last quarter of the season. Not a total bust but not a reliable fantasy starter either.

Jones-Drew - Lucked out on this one. My first waiver wire choice that week was Michael Robinson, since Gore's starting status was in question that week. Fortunately, PJ picked up Robinson and I got the future (or already?) replacement for Fred Taylor.

WR:

Steve Smith - No-duh keeper. Got severely affected by Delhomme's injury in the last quarter, it's a close call on whether to keep him or Maurice Jones-Drew.

Terry Glenn - Had a good chemistry with then-starter Drew Bledsoe, has been very consistent the last 2 years, low-risk pick. Plus I could cheer for the Cowboys sincerely if I went to Hai's Bar & Grill.

Marques Colston - A couple of websites were high on him, suspected New Orleans knew something when they let Dante Stallworth go to Philly. I rated Sean Payton highly as an offensive guru too.

Braylon Edwards - Somewhat of a mild panic trade with PJ, to match Bill's trade of Drew Brees from Tuna. Glenn and Colston had some injury questions at the time. The Michigan factor was another factor.

TE:

Kellen Winslow - He was doing well until I got him from PJ. I don't think I'll be drafting him next year...
Jason Witten - Has the yards, but only 1 TD. Ugh. Ditched the wrong TE, should have given him away instead of Cooley.

Defense:

Baltimore - Secret website had them top-ranked. Learned from previous year that having an unreliable defense is fantasy poison. They also play more aggressively now that Buddy Ryan's son is their D-coordinator.

Vic Congrats.

Speaking to a two time champion my new years wish might seem small - it is to make the playoffs next year.

On a positive football note for the year - there have not been many - i was playing with my 3 year old son last night who wanted to play football. He was the Redskins and after every "touchdown" he made he said "the Redskins beat the Eagles"

To Vic; Congratulations but what are you going to do, you can only keep four? Given you attachment to your team will it be an emotional struggle cutting some of your favorites. Hai since you live the closest to Vic be ready to provide consolation and support.

To Andrew; You have to love the innocence of a child. You should try and preserve this for as long as you can, so to that aim I recommend you prevent you son from watching a real Eagles/Redskins game, the experience may be tramatic.
