This week's Vic Guru Power Rankings

Sorry for the tardiness in getting these out. I was on vacation in Myrtle Beach through Wednesday, and didn't have much time on Hai's laptop to write the rankings because he was too busy playing World of Warcraft. As always, this reflects just one person's opinions.

1. Tuna (4-1). Yes, he's the Uber Asian. But read below on the dangers of declaring oneself to be uber in a season yet so young. Deep bench lessens the impact of the McCallister injury, but none of the replacement RBs are known for producing TDs. QB production is more important now than ever.

2. Larry (4-1). Defeated his padawan in week 5, who put up a valiant fight. Probably will be 5-1 after week 6. Will he call himself the uber Caucasian after week 6? For now, below Tuna because of points scored. Good news in future return of Ahman Green. Bad news in the absence of Martz, St. Louis may run more and so Bulger's value could decrease.

3. Hai (4-1). Top scorer of the week, thanks to good play on Broncos. Couldn't ask for a better football weekend. But has a key matchup against Victor in week 6. This week, if he wins, Victor will have to spend his time in Warcraft collecting herbs to make healing potions for Hai.

4. PJ (2-3). There is a large dropff between #3 and #4. Another close loss due to leaving points on the bench. Super deep roster will mean difficulty in getting the right combo every week. PJ played it conservative, going with conventional wisdom in not starting a QB against Philly pass defense and not starting a RB against Baltimore rush defense. Sober strategy yielded somber results. On a brighter side, will definitely go over 80% efficiency in week 7 due to half his regulars having that week off.

5. Andrew (3-2). Dang! How did he get here in the top half? Well, 3-2 record helps. Two straight 60+ performances over 2 good teams means a rise in the rankings. I don't see another repeat in that historical 34-32 meeting with PJ in week 2 in terms of scoring futility. This will be a legit contest, with the outcome pretty much based on who chooses his QB correctly.

6. Kevin (2-3). Disappointing 2 consecutive weeks puts them here. Definitely have lost team mojo since PJ's appropriation of Kevin photos. Actually, Kevin may have to blame Andy Reid for not using Westbrook more in the past few weeks. Parker now sharing carries with the Bus, and Bell still a high-risk/high-reward player. So RB situation is somewhat shaky. But overall team deserve better than a 2-3 record.

7. Victor (2-3). Won game but went down in rankings. That's because this team still too reliant on Peyton to score well. Low scoring + Win evens out the High scoring + Loss of last week. An important match against Hai this weekend. Like in football, Hai's team dominated Victor's team in golf the first half of the vacation. Victor turned it around the second half and pwned (that's a WoW term) Hai. Will history repeat itself in the fantasy football sector?

8. Donny (1-4). Despite poor record, he has been competitive in the past 2 of the last 3 weeks. With a more favorable schedule, he could have been 3-2 instead. Tough schedule continues with a week 6 meeting against the Uber Tuna. Even though Tuna has Owens off, Donny must be considered a heavy underdog due to his QBs' matchups against hard defenses. Word is that trade rumors have been emerging from the Donny camp.

9. Katy (2-3). May not miss McNabb in week 6 as much if Brees turns around his performance. Still, WRs are hurting and opponent is very difficult to hurdle. Notice how parity exists in this keeper league as last year's #1 and #2 teams are now #9 and #10 respective.y.

10. Bill (1-4). The most disappointing team so far this season. Had aspirations for the championship but inefficient QB plays have wrecked the season for Bill. Detected slight signs of panic this past weekend with his shuffle of WRs. Had he started Terry Glenn or kept Antonia Bryant, Bill would be in stronger contention. Instead, he picked up Kennison in a bye week and fell in love with the always inconsistent Galloway. Do-or-die week, will he still go to Hai's bar and grill with the loss?

I get a lot of vacation time here at Washington Gas. In fact, after 3 months working, I still have 5 more vacation days (not including holidays) to use in 2005. It makes up for the average pay (for DC) and the fact that we are supposed to report to work on snow days.
